Folk in Manchester

If you're of a folk persuasion, here's some nights, venues and ventures in and around Manchester in which you may be interested...

The RNCM has a great events and concert programme, with much folk and traditional music. We're also regularly in attendance at The Met in Bury, who also host the excellent Homegrown Festival each autumn, a long weekend dedicated to English folk music. Band On The Wall and the Bridgewater Hall also host folk and traditional music, from time to time.

If you want to know anything of what is going on in the North West folk scene your first visit should be to the North West Folk website. They also have a Facebook page. It's always up to date and full of good stuff.

If you want to know what's going on at The Midway, Stockport you can keep up on their Facebook Page or go direct to their website.

Check out Pyramid Folk, which advertises folk events within a 15 mile radius of the pyramid in Stockport: www.pyramidfolk.co.uk A great resource!

If you like a good sing, join the Sunday Singaround run by a friendly bunch including Sean Cooney of the Young'uns and Becky Unthank. You can keep up to date with the next one by joining the group here.

We're big fans of The Beech Band, currently making their home at Dulcimer in Chorlton. Hardy's Well in Rusholme also hosts a weekly session.

If you're a dancer, check out Manchester Ceilidh or Medlock Rapper and Sisters in Arms for top quality rapper dancing.

Probably enough for now.
Cheers
